Born in Roswell, New Mexico 1937. Colorado School of Mines & University of New Mexico BA degree 1961. Enlisted Navy July 1961. Naval OCS Newport, Rhode Island September 1961. Commissioned Ensign February 1962. Completed Naval Supply Corps School Athens, Georgia July 1962. Reported aboard USS Maury (AGS-16) Pearl Harbor August 1962.
1st deployment Gulf of Thailand September 1962-May 1963 conducted oceanographic surveys off-shore Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Promoted LTJG August 1963. 2nd deployment same mission also included South China Sea and Philippines September 1963-May 1964.
Reported to Headquarters Field Command, Defense Atomic Support Agency, Sandia Base, New Mexico as Supply Officer, Naval Administrative Unit August 1964. Sandia Base was the all-services training facility for atomic and nuclear weapons. Promoted Lieutenant August 1965. Was a member of the Sandia Base Navy Pistol Team which competed at the 8th Naval District Pistol Tournament in 1965. We won the First Place Team Trophy. Released from active duty February 1966.
Employed by Mountain Bell Telephone from March 1966 until early retirement in February 1990 (then known as USWest). Co-owner of a telephone cable fabrication company 1991-2000. Now enjoying family, skiing, travel, genealogy and reading-American Revolution, Civil War, WWII, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
